Release: Sound Theatre Her/e Video

“Her/e” tried to telling a story. This is different from my previous works. I used to prefer not to telling any certain content but let the sound itself flow,  such as the envelope of the sound from attack to decay, the contrast of sound loudness, the echoes and dislocations of timbre. In the past two years, I have been thinking about “why make sound?”, so telling stories has become my initial attempt to answer this question.

2020年11月22日《此地》的演出圆满结束,因为现场声音录制的一些问题以及年末诸多事情,将近3个月才将这场演出的完整视频上传与大家见面。这个视频基本还原了现场的声音和气氛,给未能到场的乐迷朋友,及弥补2020年疫情下《此地》未能带到更多的城市演出的遗憾。希望您能看完全长,和我一起经历此地之外的另一个事件。我还记得那天演出结束后,第二天起床身体异常酸痛,情绪还好,演出过程中的诸多细节让我回味许久。《此地》尝试去叙述,这与我以往的创作不同,以前会更倾向于不赋予声音叙述性,让它因为自身的属性,比如声音从起振到衰落的包络,声音的响度对比,不同音色的呼应和错落来达到作品的张力。近两年又有些思考的发力点关于“为何发声?”,所以讲述故事成了我面对和解答这个问题的初步尝试。

Light – Desire – Quest – Create – Reflection – Faith – Being – Coda

A ” body” sprouted in the darkness. After waking up, the unidentified emotions are entangled together, which is a very vague state. I want to know what I’m talking about and I don’t know where to go back. Ignorance and desire are fighting. Later, possessiveness won, and I began to look for “entities”, and when I found them, I wanted to create something. But how easy is it to create (build)? Keep trying, failing, and crashing. When facing yourself again, examining the “entity” in front of you, looking for the meaning of your own existence, will it be a way out or an answer to worship the “entity” that facing to you? In the repetition, the repetition, the repetition that takes forever (?!), from hesitation, fatigue, helplessness to firmness, finally find a balance and find a foothold. Become a “S/he” — put  clothes on body, keep warm,   when wearing costumes, like a ritual, the “body” becomes a “person”.

一个“生命体”,在黑暗的混沌中萌发出。苏醒后不明情绪纠缠在一起,是一种很模糊的状态,想知道在说什么又不知道从何去追溯,无知与欲望在打架。后来,占有欲赢了,开始要去找寻“实体”,找到它们,就想在这些物件上去创造。但创造(搭建)谈何容易?不断尝试,失败,崩溃。当重新面对自己,审视眼前的“实体”,找寻自己存在的意义,去膜拜与自己相对的“实体”会是一条出路或能找到一个答案吗?在重复中,不断的重复,耗费很长时间的重复,从犹豫、疲倦、无奈到坚定,最终找到一个平衡,找到一个落脚点。成为TA—服饰加身,给予温暖,承载意义,当穿上服饰时,如仪式一般,生命体成为人。

When audience got a stone when they entered the venue, which I will collect them in the 3rd Part of the performance, when I designed this scene,  I thought the audience would put stones on the ground, but it turned out quite different as what I planned because audience’s seats was too close to each other, everyone held the stones in their hands. This was completely unexpected. Some stones even became warm because of the hand temperature. Later in the performance I performed with them, some of them were still warm.

演出之前我没有预想到观众的座椅会那么密集,或许观众会把石子放在地上,但现场并没有,大家都握在了手里,这是完全没有意料到的。有的石子因为手温的不同甚至变得很热,在后面我用石子搭建的表演中,这些石子都有了温度。

When I went to pick up the stones, some audience hold it so tightly, I really took a lot of effort to open the palm and take it; some audience  gave me all the stones collected around her. Whether it is concerns, doubts, or observations, every audience has their own expression. I really did not expect such real interaction and unexpected conflicts. This part of the interaction with the audience really benefited me.

当我去拿石子的时候,有的观众紧紧地拽着它,我真是费了好大的劲去掰开手心拿了过来;有的观众把周围人的石子都积攒过来全部递给我。或关切,或疑虑,或观察,每位观众都有自己的表达,真没想到会有那么真切的互动和意想不到的冲突。这部分和观众的互动真是让我受益匪浅。

A Naxi girl attended my show told me that she was in tears when she saw me wearing Naxi costumes. I quoted from her “ It was solemn and sacred when Yao wearing Guzi (the hat), My eyes burst into tears. As I understand from her performance, It was a progress recognizing my national identity and wrapping myself in clothes (giving myself protection), my spirit is also deeply sheltered by my national roots and soul, I recognize myself, accept myself, and be brave. Go on the journey of life firmly. Move people’s hearts.”


现场来了一对纳西老乡,其中纳西姑娘跟我说,穿纳西族服饰的那段让她泪目了,我引用她的观后留言“最后穿谷姿时候庄严,神圣,当时突然很感动,眼泛泪光了。我的理解好像在一点点认知自我民族身份,用衣服包裹住自己的同时(给予自己保护),精神也被民族根和民族魂深刻庇护,认可自我,接纳自我,勇敢坚定地往生命旅途走下去。打动人心。”
